# Electric Circulation Heater for Crude Oil

Project-specific electric heating for continuous-flow crude oil service, viscosity reduction and flow assurance.

Equipment Overview

## Built around your fluid. Configured to your specification.

An industrial electric circulation heater for crude oil, produced fluid and oil-water mixtures in gathering pipelines, transfer lines, unloading loops and recirculation systems.

We review your operating conditions and equipment requirements, then coordinate the heater body, heating elements, process interfaces, instruments and controls. Explosion-proof configurations are reviewed against the site’s hazardous-area requirements.

### Continuous-flow heating

Once-through duties and recirculation loops.

### Fluid-matched heat load

Surface temperature and watt density considered together.

### Heater or complete skid

Equipment, piping and controls within the agreed scope.

Applications & Operating Conditions

## Keep crude oil moving through demanding conditions.

Heating duty, viscosity, wax behavior and allowable surface temperature all shape the equipment design.

### Gathering & transfer lines

Controlled heating for crude oil moving between well pads, gathering stations and transfer facilities.

### Viscosity & wax management

Temperature conditioning for heavy or waxy crude, with surface heat load selected around fluid properties.

### Cold-region operation

### Station retrofits

Heater bodies or integrated skids configured around existing plant interfaces and available space.

Engineering & Integration

## The right heating path. The right plant interfaces.

Cold crude can increase pressure drop and pump load; localized overheating can increase coking and fouling risk. Heating duty, residence time and surface heat load are considered together rather than sizing on installed kW alone.

Single-body, double-body, multi-body and skid-mounted arrangements can be reviewed around installation space and duty. Process nozzles, flanges, drains, vents, insulation and maintenance access are coordinated with your design.

- Wetted materials and pressure rating matched to the medium.
- Low surface heat-load options for waxy or coking-sensitive service.
- Local panel, PLC, Modbus RTU, SCADA or DCS interfaces.
- Approval drawings and technical deviations reviewed before manufacture.

Selection Support

## From operating conditions to a practical equipment review.

Prepare a preliminary duty estimate, then share the information needed to review the complete heating arrangement.

### Estimate the heating duty.

Use a heat-balance estimate to prepare your operating conditions for technical review.

kW = kg/h × Cp × ΔT ÷ 3600 ÷ efficiency

For steady-state sensible heating of a flowing liquid, without phase change. Use fluid-specific Cp and your project efficiency and margin; defaults are illustrative. This estimate excludes start-up heating and separate piping or tank losses. Final selection also considers viscosity, fouling, surface heat load, pressure drop and hazardous-area requirements.

### Common engineering questions.

Is a circulation heater the same as an in-line heater?

In many procurement documents, circulation heater, in-line heater and inline electric process heater may describe similar continuous-flow heating duties. Final naming depends on piping layout, recirculation loop design and project specification.

Can this heater be used for crude oil and produced fluid?

Yes. The heater can be engineered for crude oil, produced fluid and oil-water mixture heating when the medium properties, water cut, viscosity and fouling tendency are reviewed during sizing.

How do you select surface heat load or watt density?

Surface heat load, often called watt density, is selected according to crude oil properties and allowable wall temperature. Heavy crude, waxy crude or fouling-prone service usually requires a lower watt density design.

Can it be supplied as a skid-mounted package?

Yes. XGTHERMAL can supply the heater body alone or a skid-mounted package with process piping, valves, instruments, insulation, junction boxes and control cabinet integration.

Do you supply crude oil circulation heaters from China for overseas projects?

Yes. XGTHERMAL is a China-based manufacturer of explosion-proof electric heaters and skid-mounted heating systems for oil and gas projects. We support project-specific design, documentation and export-oriented technical communication.

What certification documents can be supported?

Project documentation can be prepared around IEC 60079 / GB/T 3836 hazardous-area requirements, NDT, material certificates, FAT records and, where required, project-specific ATEX, IECEx, EAC or JIP33 alignment discussions.
