Skid-mounted explosion-proof electric heater package for the Niger GOLOLO-1 Oilfield project
Skid-mounted electric heater package prepared for the GOLOLO-1 Oilfield project in Niger.

Project Description

XGTHERMAL supplied skid-mounted explosion-proof electric heater systems for the GOLOLO-1 Oilfield project in Niger. The project is located in the Agadem area, with CNPC Niger Petroleum S.A. as the end user and CPTDC as the EPC contractor. The equipment was configured for oilfield process heating service involving oil, water and gas media.

The merged public case combines two former Niger project entries into one clearer reference. The supplied package included four BDRG-75 electric heater skids and two BDRG-150 electric heater skids, together with heater bodies, control cabinets, explosion-proof junction boxes, process nozzles, companion flanges, gaskets, fasteners, anchor bolts, bilingual nameplates, export packaging and final handover documentation.

Project Configuration

Public Disclosure Note: this English case keeps the equipment scope, control logic and export-delivery value visible while avoiding contract pricing, commercial terms and unverified commissioning claims.

Supply Scope

BDRG-75 package
Four BDRG-75 electric heater skids for oil, water and gas heating service with 4-inch Class 600 ASME B16.5 process connections.
BDRG-150 package
Two BDRG-150 electric heater skids with 6-inch Class 600 ASME B16.5 process connections for higher-capacity field heating duty.
Skid integration
Stainless-steel heater body, removable heating elements, carbon-steel skid base, control cabinet, junction box, fittings and installation hardware.

Control System

Automation platform
Siemens SIMATIC S7-200 SMART PLC with PID temperature control and SCR stepless power regulation.
Operation mode
Local and remote start-stop operation with manual, automatic and stop modes retained for commissioning and field maintenance.
Communication
Modbus RTU over RS485 for status feedback, temperature data, alarm signals and integration with the station control environment.

Export Delivery

Documentation
Product certificates, inspection records, material certificates, operation documents and nameplates supplied in English or bilingual format.
Packaging
Export-ready packaging was specified for long-distance sea transportation and field storage in Niger.
Interface standard
Process interfaces and companion parts were prepared around ASME B16.5 Class 600 project requirements.

Challenge

The Niger oilfield package needed to support hazardous-area heating service while remaining practical for overseas delivery, local installation and station-level operation.

  • Oil, water and gas service required a heating structure that avoids direct contact between electric elements and the process medium
  • Multiple skid capacities had to be standardized enough for operation but sized for different field duties
  • Remote operation, alarm feedback and station communication were required for oilfield control integration
  • The equipment had to survive long-distance sea transportation and harsh field storage before installation

Solution

XGTHERMAL delivered BDRG skid-mounted explosion-proof electric heater packages with indirect heat transfer, PLC-based control and export-oriented project documentation.

  • Indirect heat transfer structure using heat transfer oil separates the heating elements from oilfield process media
  • Removable heating elements and skid integration simplify maintenance and reduce scattered field assembly work
  • PLC, PID and SCR control provide stable temperature regulation and smooth power adjustment
  • Bilingual documents, nameplates and export packaging support overseas project handover

Indirect Heating for Mixed Oilfield Media

For oilfield process heating, safety and maintainability are often more important than simply increasing installed power. The BDRG heater skids use an indirect heat transfer structure using heat transfer oil, so the electric heating elements do not directly contact oil, water or gas media. This helps reduce exposure of the electrical heating core to field process conditions and provides a clearer maintenance boundary.

The configuration is suitable for oil-water-gas service where the operator needs controlled heating, removable heating elements and pressure-rated process interfaces in one packaged skid.

Automation and Protection Logic

The control system uses a Siemens SIMATIC S7-200 SMART PLC, PID temperature control and SCR stepless power regulation. In normal operation, the PLC compares process temperature with the setpoint, then adjusts heater output smoothly through the power regulator instead of relying only on simple on-off contactor switching.

The project information also describes local and remote operation, overtemperature, overpressure, overcurrent and overload protection. Alarm information can be displayed on the local LCD interface and shared through Modbus RTU / RS485 communication for station-side monitoring.

Overseas Project Delivery

Because the equipment was shipped for use in Niger, delivery was not only a manufacturing task. The package included companion flanges, gaskets, fasteners, anchor bolts, control cabinets, explosion-proof junction boxes, bilingual nameplates and handover documents. Export-ready packaging was prepared for long-distance transportation and storage before field installation.

This makes the case useful for international oilfield projects where engineering teams need not only a heater body, but a complete skid-mounted heating package with documentation and interface readiness.
