The engineering challenge

Conditions shaping the heating duty.

The heater had to operate on a DC electrical interface while retaining the temperature control and protection expected of industrial process equipment.

The engineering task was to coordinate five heating groups, outlet-air temperature feedback and local or remote operating authority within the plant control environment.

Delivered heating architecture

500 kW across five heating groups.

A DC1000V heater interface with group-level temperature protection and PLC-based control.

Our approach

Engineering the complete heating package.

Grouped heating architecture

The 500 kW heating duty is divided into five 100 kW groups, with group-level monitoring and protection coordinated by one PLC-based control system.

Outlet-temperature regulation

Outlet-air temperature is incorporated into operating logic to start and stop heating against the configured temperature setpoint.

Protection and plant integration

Heating-group overtemperature protection, breaker-trip logic, local and remote emergency shutdown and Modbus communication are incorporated into the heater-side package.

Project value

Delivery and application value.

Using solar electricity for process heat

The system enables photovoltaic electricity to serve a 500 kW industrial process-heating duty. Where solar electricity displaces purchased electricity or fuel-based heating, it can reduce reliance on those energy sources and create energy-cost and emissions benefits. Actual savings depend on solar availability, the supply arrangement, operating hours and the heating system being replaced.

Delivered heater-side scope

The supplied system combines the DC electric heater, electrical connection and protection equipment, temperature monitoring and local/remote controls.

A defined system boundary

This case demonstrates the DC heater interface and control architecture. It does not establish that XGTHERMAL supplied the complete photovoltaic generation plant, or that the heating duty runs exclusively on solar power at all times.
